Classy Combos with the Newest Perennials

New shipments of plants are arriving every day. This week, we celebrate perennials: the newest and prettiest! We’ve put together a few winning combinations for you to plant in your garden.

For sunny sites, we’ve put together a brilliant show off combo of Salvia ‘Endless Love’ , with the new crisp white daisy, LaCrosse. The fascinating “quill” shapes of the flower petals on LaCrosse will have everyone saying “WOW!” Add Coreposis Star Cluster, which is creamy white with a burgundy spot at each petal’s base, and your garden will be showy long after dusk.

LaCrosse, May-August,  8-10 inches tall x 10-12 inches wide, compact stature. Bright yellow center.
Endless Love Salvia,  12 inches tall x 14 -16 inches wide. Soft purple blossoms with lime green and purple sepals.
Star Cluster Coreposis, 18-24 inches tall by 18-24 inches wide. Creamy white w/purple splotch.

Campanula ‘Freya’s’  , rich periwinkle blooms are perfect for cottage gardens, butterfly gardens, and for bouquests , as well. Blooming continuously from May through July and needing lots of sun, they would be perfect with any of the Knockout roses, and the new LaCrosse daisy.

Freya is 10-15 inches tall x 15-18 inches wide. Full sun, well drained soil. Sturdy and non-invasive. Blooms May through July.
Knock Out Roses in all colors bloom from May until a very hard frost.
LaCrosse daisy, May-August,  8-10 inches tall x 10-12 inches wide, compact stature. Bright yellow center.

If you have a shady spot or woodland setting, try the new Japanese Forest Grass, ‘Fubuki’, paired with the sensational rosy- hued Hellebore, ‘Rosemary’. To fill out the planting, add several clumps of the palest pink Tiarella, ‘Octoraro.” The cloudlike blossoms of the Tiarella will light up the woodland garden until late May. Fubuki means snowstorm in Japanese, and the leaves are brilliantly variegated. Cool weather will cause them to develop a beautiful rosy hue.

‘Octoraro’ Tiarella 18 inches tall by 24 inches wide, part sun/part shade.
‘Rosemary’ Hellebore, dry shade, 18 inches tall by 20 inches wide, rosy pink buds open to pale pink flowers and mature to rosy pink again. Hellebores bloom from March –June.
‘Fubuki’ grass is 14-18 inches tall and as wide.  A nice compact variety, Fubuki will look pretty in the garden from May until autumn.
